My name is Rachel Adams and I am a National Geographic Explorer and PhD student in the Ecosystem Science and Management department at Texas A&M University. I am from Fayetteville, Arkansas but have been living in College Station with my husband and fluffy cat for nearly three years. I graduated from the University of Southern California (Fight On!) with a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Studies in 2015 and am grateful to be carrying out my dream of earning my doctorate.
Science and environmental conservation has been a lifelong passion. I have a particular interest in cave ecosystems and have been an active caver for over thirteen years. My current research incorporates this fascination with other scientific fields (see Research Overview).
Beyond this, I enjoy all outdoor activities – hiking, kayaking, caving (of course!), and fishing. I love cooking and baking and am always searching for new recipes. I am an avid movie and TV show watcher with a slight obsession with Harry Potter. In addition, my husband and I travel as much as we can to visit family and friends or to experience a new place.
